Smoke, Soul
& Heritage
Barbecue is a story of resilience. It is a testament to the creativity and strength of those who came before us. Their influence can still be found in the smoke, the techniques, and the traditions that define barbecue today.
We proudly honor the deep influence that Black Americans have within the history of barbecue. In a painful chapter of our nation's past, enslaved Africans and their descendants were often given the toughest and least desirable cuts of meat. Through resourcefulness, skill, and perseverance, they transformed those humble cuts into meals that nourished families and built communities. What was once overlooked became something remarkable, helping shape one of the most celebrated culinary traditions in the world.
Stone and Steel Smoke Company was founded to honor that legacy. From the South to Michigan, we are committed to preserving the traditions our elders entrusted to us while sharing them with a new generation. Every rack of ribs, every brisket, and every plate we serve is prepared with gratitude for those whose hands and hearts shaped this craft long before us.
We believe that barbecue is more than food. It's history. It's family. It's culture. It is a reminder that some of the greatest things are born not from abundance, but from perseverance and pride.
And as long as there is smoke in the air and family around the table, we will continue to tell that story, one meal at a time.
